Mohammad Salim “Sofi Zada”
I got to know about JRS values and services in Afghanistan when I start learning English with one of the Jesuits, and later got the opportunity to join JRS as an office assistant. JRS supported me during my university studies and later supported me to do my Master in Social Work in India, specializing in community development.

JRS has brought many changes, not only among students and staff, but also in families, Institutions, and schools. For example, some families were against girls studying English and Computers. But through national and international Day celebrations and family meetings, JRS got them involved in their children’s learning so that they realized the value of JRS programs, and agreed to send their girls to school. Most of these girls are working and supporting their families now, and giving back to the community.

JRS is not an organization to work for profit. It supports the poorest of the poor to have access to quality education. JRS does not provide just academics, but also helps students to build their capacity. Ultimately, the goal of JRS is build the capacity of youth to become local leaders to take ownership and help their own communities.
Long live JRS and congratulations on its 15th anniversary! God bless every one of the staff!
