They deserve an enormous
thank you.
My involvement for Afghanistan began soon after the end of the
war in 2001. After the first years, by chance I received the magazine "jesuitenweltweit" (Autumn 2007). I was inspired, and
immediately contacted Fr Klaus, and our shared journey started.
Some time ago, I counted the distance that I travelled by my car to reach
my destinations for JRS fund-raising events - at least twice around the
equator! I have no count of the amount of money I have raised for JRS, but I have conducted about 1100 events!
I have given events for children, youth, adults and elderly persons, I have told Afghan fairy tales, always concluding the performance with an Afghan or other game or handicraft making. I have held conferences about Afghanistan and the difficulties people are confronted with, and I have always underlined the precious work of JRS. I did city-guides, excursions by bicycle with groups, and I also wrote adult and children’s books, which sold well.
Working with JRS has given a new significance to my life. Since then, all my thoughts are with JRS and the people JRS serves. During the first years, I was given great opportunities to work for JRS. God was with me, always, giving me new chances, protecting me in a near-fatal road accident when I was travelling back home after three performances to raise funds for JRS.
On this occasion, I must thank the South Tyrolian World Doctors who have helped me not only to bring forward our projects but also to sustain us financially. They deserve an enormous thank you.
