Israiel Sarvishta

My journey into the heart of the city of Kabul began with the most astounding journey with JRS. It is no less than magic... that's what I felt.

Each Jesuit I met came with a distinct reason. A reason to give back to the community, to the people of Kabul, anything they had learnt over the years of service.

I had the privilege of teaching only two batches of students; professors from Kabul University and about 60 students including 4 women from a training institute. I taught English and did a bit of team-building. I sense that I learnt more from them than what I taught them.

We shared lives... and I gained a new understanding of what life truly means, sometimes with very little or nothing at all.

What I saw is that when the Jesuits worked, they did it with their heart and soul. The support I got personally was of trust and compassion.

For me it was and continues to be a blessing to associate myself with amazing people specially the Jesuits from whom I still keep learning.
