As an Afghan youth I am grateful to JRS

I am Zahira Haidary, a former JRS student, who would like to share my journey in few words. When I was in eighth grade, I was very interested in learning English. One day, I saw a note on our school noticeboard that JRS was planning to start English classes in early morning, before school hours. I was most excited to register, and my journey started from that day on, and I feel it will continue in the future as well.

When I joined JRS, I did not know one word of English. Being part of this organization helped me to achieve several goals:

1-becoming the top student in class, especially in English;

2- getting part-time job opportunities because of my good English;

3-getting the opportunity of teaching English at the JRS center;

4- very importantly, getting a scholarship to do my college studies in India.

5-getting good grades in college, and graduating in first-rank in the university;

6-getting job opportunities easily because of language fluency and knowledge.

In conclusion, I love to say that JRS creates lots of opportunities for all youth, especially girls, and as an Afghan youth I am grateful to JRS.
