JRS means a lot to me

Updated: Apr 27, 2020

I owe my success to hope, curiosity, and hard work. I am from Afghanistan currently

pursuing my degree BCOM 2nd year in St Joseph’s College for Women Autonomous in Andhra Pradesh, India. I started studying with JRS in Tajwar Sultana High School, Kabul. I had a journey of 4 years with JRS and I still remember each and every single thing about those years.

JRS means a lot to me. I confess that wherever I am today, it’s all because of JRS. I learned English and so I could succeed in getting a scholarship with ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) and to do my degree right now in India. I still remember that I used to be empty, and had no clue about my goals and wishes, but JRS showed us how to have courage, how to follow our dreams step by step, how to be confident, how to take the risks in life, how to accept the differences of others, how not to give up on our goals, how to be hopeful in hard situations, and how to nourish our creativity. JRS taught us not to forget that united we stand and divided we fall. JRS is not just an organization but also a family.

I am deeply attached to JRS because it changed me from an introverted and poor-spirited person to a highly motivated and confident person. Even today, in India, JRS is helping me by inviting me to workshops. JRS is such an inspiration for me that I can change my life, my family and my community. I have a dream to help women to get educated and build up their own life.

I heartily congratulate JRS on its 15th anniversary. Thank you for all your hard work and endless efforts for the welfare of Afghan people. Hope this journey continues to thousands of years to help people, especially girls, to make their dreams come true like mine. Indeed you are there in our prayers. I will continue being a part of JRS family and it’s a source of pride for me.
